GREEK ISLANDS

Greece, from Athens to Mykonos to Santorini; a trip of a lifetime. I could blog for days with details, pictures and memories. I'm just going to share a little bit here. I do have a page that has all of my pictures on it. If you'd like to see it comment below and I'll be glad to share them! Each place we traveled to we enjoyed trying authentic Greek food and drinks. It's so simple there. Every place you go offers juice, not some concentrated, sugary juice either. Real, straight fruit juice; so refreshing and healthy. The food is all so fresh and light! The Greeks are definitely inspiring.

Night one was spent in Athens, we did a lot of sightseeing and eating then popped a bottle of champagne and enjoyed our gorgeous view of the city from our balcony. Athens was a huge city that had way more to offer than I expected.

Nights two and three were spent in Mykonos. The flight from Athens to Mykonos was fairly short and gave us lots of time in Mykonos. We spent the first day lounging by our private pool and by the public pool bar. It was seriously a postcard view, so dreamy. The room was luxurious, lucked out!  Day two was spent on the beach with the crystal clear water rolling in. I got a little massage while lounging on the Mediterranean coast, amazing! We spent the evening in the city. We checked out Little Venice-the place you see pictures of online. This town was full of Greek culture. We shopped, ate, walked around and talked about what husband and wife really and truly means.

Santorini-Woah. Beautiful. Cultural. Romantic. Happy. So many words I can think of to describe this town. We stayed in Oia; the more relaxed part of town. The sunset we watched was absolutely beautiful; it set right behind the castle and was quite impressive to say the least. We had dinner on a rooftop where we could also watch the sunset or we could turn our heads the other way and check the gorgeous Mediterranean. Per request from one of our drivers we ordered fava as an appetizer. It's basically pureed beans, really good! The city at night is so romantic. There are little churches everywhere, the main religion is Greek Orthodox-Christians. I think the highlight of the trip was the semi private sailing trip we took our last night in Santorini. The boat took us around the island allowing us to swim in different areas and exploring the sea. The water is cold, very cold! This southerner could barely handle it. I am so glad I did though. Nick jumped off of a cliff with a friend we met on the boat; Kiel and Lia are from Canada and were also on their honeymoon! We also had another US family on the boat with us.  When swimming you can look under water and see for miles; we saw so much! Dinner was cooked as served on the boat and it was delicious. We had a huge Greek meal: shrimp, Greek salad, grilled calamari, chicken and pork, bread, veggie medley pasta salad. I can't even remember what all they fed us it was so much!

The last night we went back to Athens before catching our 6 am flight back to Texas! We toured a different part of Athens city after our private tour guide. The tour took us all over the city teaching us all about the Greek history and all of the historical landmarks. My brain was on overload but this was definitely an unforgettable experience and something I highly recommend.
