March 4, 2009 I went on a blind date, 100% out of my comfort zone and something I swore I would never do. My friend Kim was dating a guy (at that time) that Nick worked with. These two arranged for us to meet. The day after my 23rd birthday I met Kim, Nick and his friend for dinner and drinks at Tokyo. At that time I didn't eat Tokyo and was not feeling up to par. I went out and enjoyed myself the night before to celebrate the birthday. I was giving every excuse in the book to get out of this awkward date. Kim wouldn't have it and refused to let me skip out, thank you Kim! Nick and I really enjoyed each others company and had great conversation. We also noticed that we shared the same addiction-to chapstick. I was flying out the next morning for a girls trip to Miami and then was heading to Chicago to meet Kim and our friend Juan. In between the two trips I stayed the night in Houston and was able to meet Nick for dinner. Our first date was at Perry's followed up with a few drinks at a Baker Street Pub in Sugarland City Center, successful again. Nick at the time had an apartment in Pearland but had a company apartment in Beaumont. We were able to see each other often since he was working primarily in Port Arthur. Unexpectedly, the blind date turned into a true love story that will unfold here on this blog.
